e Fun!

What does it mean to talk about identity and gender in a language that attributes gender to words themselves?
What does it mean talk about identity and gender in a language that attributes gender to words themselves?
My native language, Farsi, in which I first began to apprehend the world around me, is genderless.
Neither objects, nor ideas have a sex.

In Farsi, the word for “gender” is “جنسیت” (jenssiat), which means material.
When applied to objects, it refers to what they are made of.
When applied to people, it refers to their sex.
Therefore, in my language, the “gender” of the table is wood.
And my gender is skin, flesh, bones, muscles, blood, veins, hair, cells…

So, what is the word “gender” made of? Which sex is “gender”?
In French, when you can't put a name to something you call it “une chose” - a thing.
So, is a body that you can’t ascribe a gender to a thing?
Thing is feminine in French… So are all things feminine?
